Mashallah, great interview with the brother who converted and is spreading his story all over the world. Mashallah I am in awe at all the former hip-hop stars converting to islam, may Allah guide everyone in the industry and mankind all over the world to the strait path Inshallah.
Loon! May Allah guide many other rappers, and musicians to the right path!
If you live in the Greater Toronto Area or are visiting this summer here are two confrences that I am looking forward to. One is the Youth Taribiya event at the Islamic Foundation Masjid aka (Nugget Mosque). This is actually their 9th conference but I only heard about this recently, anyways mark your calendars for June 26-28. If you want more info go to their official website http://www.youthtarbiyah.com/. AND don’t forget to register online for a chance to win 1 of 3 Umrah tickets…and best of all this conference is absolutley FREE!
Another conference thats coming up inshallah is the Journey of Faith, this is it’s second year running and I CANT WAIT…it’s baisically like RIS but more HARDCORE, which makes it fun. The speakers by the way include ZAKIR NAIK, who has to be one of the most brilliant speakers ever, subhanallah the man can quote ayahs like wildfire its amaizing. Also Dr.Hakim Quick, Dr. Bilal Philips, Shaykh Tawfiq Chowdhury, and Brother Abdurahman Green just to name a few. I have to say, last years conference blew me away and they did a great job organizing for the first one, and hope this years will be even better. It’s going to be located at the Metro Toronto Convention Center on July 4th and 5th, and be sure to check out their site at http://journeyconference.com.
So I love it whenever I see Islamic fashion designers who make modesty look sophisticated, and one designer that I’ve had my eye on is Rabia Z. She has some innovative designs, and it just makes me want to start my own line of clothes! And she always seems so put together, and well as a fellow hijabi myself I don’t know if I could pull off some of the stuff she wears, but I’d definatly buy her stuff if they sold it around here! Anyways here is a video of her before a show she did in Dubai, and one after.

Well, as I mentioned in my first post I’ve failed in the past at blogging…and seeing its been almost 3 YEARS!!!! I think I fail again. Anyways I totally forgot about this blog until a couple of weeks ago a friend and I were discussing making a blog…and then I remembered and thought…”WeLLZ golly I ALREADY have a blog…its just that I’m stupid and forgot about it” hehe. Well, I hope today will be the revival…anyways part of the reason why I lagged in keeping up is because my old computer was so slooooooowww…but I have recently obtained a laptop which is just FAB U LUSS…and will, I’m sure use it as an incentive to blog more! Anyways, I’m back and I shall post ON inshallah!
Well first of all Eid Mubarak, and Happy New Year!!! I know it’s a little late but my internet got cut off for a couple a days so I couldn’t update.
Anyways…RIS 06, all I have to say is that it was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had. It was my first time at an islamic convention, and alhamdulilah it was AWESOME. My favourite speakers would have to be Shayhk Hamza Yusuf, Imam Zaid Shakir, and Tariq Ramadan who moved me to tears 3 times! I also bought Tariq’s book “In the Footsteps of Prophet” which I got signed.

Subhanallah the moment I will never forget is when a young lady by the name of Ola converted to Islam, that moment just made the whole convention all the more worthwhile to know that sombody had gained that much inspiration from the convetion to change their lives. Of course who knows how many more non-muslims were in the audience who were thinking to do the same alahu-a3lam! Of course I’m sure every person who atteneded was inspired from the conferance and not only listened to the lectures, but actually applied these new teachings into their daily lives.

Also the entertainment session was awesme, even though it ended at like 1:30 am. My favs were Aashiq-al-Rasul, and Outlandish….who owned the night. I was sitting in the front row (after the VIP section…so like 5th row :) ), and the girls in my row were going CRAZY shouting random comments, and singing along. Also is it just me, or did it look like both Hamza Robertson, and the Ehab Tawfiq guy were lip syncing?? I dunno, anyways I did take notes at the confrence but didn’t get a chance to type them up yet so inshallah I’ll do that. I really can’t wait to go next year, and inshallah I’ll try to go to the knowledge retreat too inshallah!

So, I was bored and I was looking around on youtube and I came across this trailer for some muslim TV show called “Zaynab”. I mean it seemed interesting, and got me thing about all these new TV shows somehow realted to Islam that’s in the mainstrean. I don’t know what channel “Zaynab” is on, but such shows like “Sleeper Cell”, and a new Canadaian series “Little Mosque on the Prarie” seem to be poping up evrywhere. I think it’s good to a degree, It gets people who arn’t really familliar with Islam to have some sort of insight. But of course some of these shows don’t really portray true islam, like in that “Zaynab” trailer (muslim guy impregnating girl!!). As for “Little Mosque on the Prarie” it’s a comedy set in Saskatchawan about a guy who wants to become an Imam, and funny stuff happen a long the way. Here’s the clip for “Zaynab”, and www.littlemosque.ca is where you can find some clips from “Little Mosque on the Prarie”.
Inshallah, on friday right after school me and my freinds will be heading downtown to the 5th annual Reviving the Islamic Spirit Convention. It’s my first time going, and I really am excited, according to all the reveiws from the people who went the previous years, It was great. There really is an awesome lineup….
Shaykh Abdallah Bin Bayyah, Dr. Tareq Suwaidan, Shaykh Hamza Yusuf, Professor Tariq Ramadan, Imam Zaid Shakir, Robert Fisk, Imam Siraj Wahhaj, Dr. Abdal Hakim Jackson , Shaykh Abdullah Hakim Quick, Shaykh Sulaiman Mulla, Br. Moez Masoud
Also Habib Ali Al’Jifri was going to attend, but due to some visa problems and other plans he won’t be coming. Plus there will be an entertainment session featuring Nazeem Azami, and Hamza Robertson two new British nasheed singers. As well as Aashiq-Al-Rasul, Noor, Ehab Tawfiq (who I haven’t heard of before), and of course OUTLANDISH!!! It’s going to be Outlandish’s first performance in North America, and I think that they couldn’t of had their premeir in a better place. People from all over North Amerca will be attending RIS, and inshallah I’ll post many pictures. Alhamduliah 2 more days of school left until the winter holidays, and then RIS time!!!
BTW here is the trailer

This is the first post of my…….4th attempted blog, I hope this does better then the previous ones. Inshallah! So what’s with the title of the blog you might add (if anyone is really reading this)….”Invisible Frown”, well the title comes from a little thing. Well see, when I think, or daydream or just do whatever people think I look really sad!?!? Let me give you an example
Me: In class doing work
Freind: “Hey, are you ok?”
Me: “Ummm, yeah…why?”
Freind: “I dunno, you look sad”
Me: “Really?, I’m fine!”
Freind: “Oh, ok cool beans”
This situation usually happens at least once a week, or more. I dunno, I guess my face is constantly in frown mode, and I don’t realize it. It’s almost invisible! Yeah, so thats where I got the name from…it’s pretty random, but thats life.
